Supported Cohort Training for Construction & Workforce Programs

Put proven construction training to work in your organization or program.

Give your participants the flexibility of on-demand training with the continuity and accountability of a dedicated expert coach.

Every Blue House Energy course includes a monthly live Q&A session with an expert, so learners have somewhere to ask questions and get help. For organizations running a structured training or workforce program, Supported Cohort Training adds weekly live sessions with a dedicated expert coach who works with your group throughout the program.

Your coach reinforces difficult concepts, connects learning to real-world situations, answers questions and helps participants stay on track. For programs leading to critical exams, such as the Energy Advisor exams, weekly sessions can also include exam-taking coaching to help participants prepare to demonstrate what they know under exam conditions.

You get proven BHE training without developing a curriculum from scratch, with more frequent, dedicated support when your program needs participants to reach a defined outcome.

More Support When Your Program Needs It.

Our regular on-demand training isn't a learn-it-and-you're-on-your-own experience. Learners get on-demand access to course content and resources plus a monthly live Q&A with a BHE expert.

Supported Cohort Training builds on that model when you have a defined group of participants, a program timeline and outcomes you need to achieve.

Learn Online. Meet With Your Coach Every Week.

Participants complete their core learning online between sessions, giving them the flexibility to fit training around work, school or other program commitments. The weekly session isn't another lecture or a replay of the course.

It's where participants consolidate and apply what they're learning. Their coach can answer questions, reinforce concepts, work through examples and scenarios, address misconceptions and connect individual topics to the bigger picture.

Because the same expert works with the cohort throughout the program, support can respond to what is actually happening in the group. Regular contact also creates accountability: participants know what they're working toward, when they'll meet again and where they can get help before falling behind.

LEARN ON DEMAND → MEET WEEKLY → ASK & APPLY → STAY ON TRACK → ACHIEVE THE OUTCOME

This combination is particularly useful in construction and energy-efficiency training. As housing becomes more technically demanding, workers need to understand not only what to do, but why it matters and how decisions about airtightness, insulation, ventilation, moisture and mechanical systems affect the house as a whole.

Preparing Participants for a Critical Exam?

Knowing the material and demonstrating that knowledge under exam conditions are different skills.

For programs preparing participants for critical external exams, including the Energy Advisor Foundation and House exams, weekly sessions can include exam-taking coaching alongside technical support. Participants can practise interpreting questions, finding and applying information efficiently, managing their time and identifying areas where they need more preparation.

The goal isn't simply course completion. It's helping participants arrive at the exam prepared to demonstrate what they know.

Build the Program Around Your Participants.

Supported Cohort Training starts with proven BHE courses in building science, construction technology, energy efficiency, high-performance housing and Energy Advisor exam preparation. We work with you to determine what your participants need to learn, select and sequence the appropriate training, and establish the program schedule and weekly coaching.

Programs can support new construction or energy retrofit workforce development, from foundational building science and construction knowledge through more specialized training. Existing BHE content can also be customized where your audience, jurisdiction or program requires something different.

This model can work for municipalities and funded workforce initiatives, construction and renovation firms, efficiency organizations and utilities, government and youth trades programs, building officials, home warranty programs, Energy Advisor workforce development and other organizations building housing-sector capacity.

Wraparound Support — If You Need It.

Training may be only one part of your initiative. You may also need recruitment, marketing, participant communications, administration, employer engagement or reporting — or you may already have teams handling all of those things.

If you have the capacity in-house, we work with your recruitment, communications and program teams, providing the training-specific messaging, participant information, timelines and materials they need.

If you need more help, we can work with you to develop a larger recruitment and marketing package using our existing templates, adapted to your audience and program. Support can also include participant onboarding and communications, LMS administration, progress monitoring, employer or stakeholder communications, and training-related measurement and reporting.

Keep the pieces you already have. Add the support you need.

RECRUIT → ONBOARD → LEARN → COACH → CONNECT → MEASURE → IMPROVE

Measure, Learn, and Improve.

Completion matters, but it isn't the only measure of a successful training program. Depending on your objectives, we can help track participation and progress, completion, learner feedback, instructor observations, assessment or exam outcomes and other agreed program measures.

Establishing those measures at the beginning means reporting doesn't have to be reconstructed at the end. It also gives your program team useful information while training is underway and helps identify what should be improved for the next delivery.

DELIVER → MEASURE → LEARN → IMPROVE

Need a Different Level of Training Support?

Supported Cohort Training is one way to work with BHE. If learners simply need access to proven training, On-Demand Training may be enough. If existing courses need to be adapted for your program, audience or jurisdiction, we can provide Customized Training. If the curriculum itself needs to be created around your requirements and subject-matter expertise, Bespoke Training Development provides a build-from-scratch option.

Programs can be hosted and maintained on the BHE learning platform or delivered through your LMS, with branding and white-label options available. Future Train-the-Trainer services will provide another pathway for organizations that want to develop their own local training capacity.

Tell Us What You're Trying to Accomplish.

You don't need to arrive with a course outline or a finished training plan. Tell us who you need to train, what you need them to know or be able to do, the outcome you're working toward, and any timelines, funding requirements or reporting obligations.

We'll start with what you already have and help determine the right combination of proven training, weekly coaching and program support.
