This bundle introduces Building Science and the House-as-a-System concept, and the importance of a healthy indoor environment. The content of these two courses overlaps.
Building Science Basics is focussed on understanding the causes of excess energy use, drafts, and mold growth (among other things)
Healthy Indoor Environment is focussed on understanding the choices that can improve the living conditions inside a house.
Building Science Basics introduces the house as a system. You will learn how the various components of a house are affected by the interactions of heat, air and moisture flow in a house, how those interactions impact indoor air quality, and the need for ventilation.
Healthy Indoor Environment covers the fundamentals of indoor air quality, healthy housing materials, and ventilation needs to ensure the home’s occupants are healthy and comfortable. You will learn how to identify, remedy, and avoid pollutants.
