The National Building Code (NBC) 2020 ushered in a new era for Canadian builders, bringing Tiered Energy Performance Targets to all regions. NBC 2025 continues the tiered code.
The NBC is a model building code, which means it is not a legal instrument. It is up to each of the provinces and territories to adopt the NBC and regulate new construction. That means there are different levels of energy targets across the country, but the ultimate goal is Net Zero Energy across the country for new construction.
