There are many ways to consider how to renovate a house for energy conservation. The way that is right for a particular house is dependent on many different factors, but this decision tree shows the top-level factors for a 'standard' set of energy conservation measures (ECMs) that would lead to 15 to 30 percent reductions from existing energy use, or a deep energy retrofit that would lead to 50 percent or better reductions, or a Net Zero Energy renovation that would lead to the house producing as much energy in a year as it consumes.
In coming blog posts, we'll drill down into each of these categories.
