INTEGRATE RENEWABLE ENERGY TODAY!

Renewable energy sources, especially solar (but also wind, given the right location and circumstances) are becoming increasingly popular for homeowners as a way to move to Net Zero Energy and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Small-scale renewable energy installations play a significant role in on-site electricity generation and are expected to grow in the near future, especially as energy performance targets and building code requirements change.

Strong energy conservation measures reduce the overall energy load of a house or building. That allows a rooftop renewable energy system to produce as much electricity in a year as the house or building consume.

The key is reducing energy consumption and increasing efficiency before installation of renewable resources like photovoltaic panels or wind turbines so that the cost of installed capacity is as low as possible.

what is renewable energy?

Renewable energy is derived from natural processes that are continuously replenished, making it a sustainable and clean energy source. Unlike fossil fuels, which deplete over time and release harmful pollutants, key renewable energy sources for building owners, such as solar, wind, and geothermal produce little to no greenhouse gases. This makes them an excellent choice for reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.

Meeting electricity needs with a rooftop solar PV system that feeds back into the electrical grid is a proven way to get to net zero, for new developments or established neighbourhoods.

benefits of renewable energy

There are several advantages of renewable energy:

  • Economically, it reduces dependence on fossil fuels, which are subject to volatile prices and supply disruptions.

  • Environmentally, renewable energy sources produce minimal greenhouse gas emissions, significantly improving air quality and combating climate change.

  • Socially, the renewable energy sector creates numerous job opportunities, from manufacturing and installation to maintenance and research. Small scale solar and wind can also improve energy security.

renewable energy technologies

Over the past three decades, renewable energy technologies have become more efficient and cost-effective, making them a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Solar energy, harnessed through photovoltaic panels, and wind power, generated by wind turbines, are among the most widely used renewable energy systems.

Renewable sources like solar power work at the building level to generate power for electric vehicles as well as for space heating and water heating. Add in energy storage, and other emerging technologies, and renewable energy production like rooftop PV can make an important contribution to municipal and regional carbon emissions reduction targets.

HARNESSING THE POWER

As a builder, renovator, or contractor, you know that homeowners are more eco-conscious than ever. They want homes that are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable. The energy transition from fossil fuels to clean energy sources is driving significant changes to building codes and by-laws. Clean energy, electrification, net zero emissions and low-carbon requirements are all part of our future. But here’s the thing—your clients are counting on you to make that happen. With our Introduction to Renewables For Houses course, you’ll gain the fundamental knowledge and to confidently work with renewable energy providers.

You don't have to develop a whole new skill set: sizing, installing, and commissioning are someone else's area of expertise. What you do need is a good grasp of what options are available to your clients, and what types of renewable energy sources or systems might best suit your client's needs.

This course will help you integrate renewable energy systems whether you’re working on a new build or retrofitting an existing home.
