As a licensed architect, you must earn continuing education credits annually to keep your membership up to date.

The American Institute of Architects requires 18 Learning Units (LUs) annually for continuing education (a LU = 1 hour of continuing education). Twelve (12) of the LUs you earn in a year must be in the areas of health, safety and welfare (HSW).

CEUs can also be required to renew a state license. If you’re still working towards your license, some approved courses can count towards your experience requirement. Ask at your state level about which courses can be applied to license renewal or experience.

Building Science Basics is approved for 9 LUs by AIA, in the HSW category.

Please note!

To earn the AIA credits, you must purchase Building Science Basics through our training partner GreenHome Institute (GHI). Please contact GHI directly to ensure your LUs are submitted properly.
